The Smart Construction and Mobility program develops safe, efficient, and sustainable construction and transportation systems through the application of state-of-the-art smart IT technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, and drones.
Smart Construction & Mobility
Transportation engineering focuses on transporting passengers and freights efficiently and economically while minimizing environmental impact. It explores the various issues such as traffic congestion, safety, and pollution in road, rail, air, and maritime transportation, and seeks to find planning, operation, and management solutions that minimize social costs.
TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS SYSTEM LABORATORY aims to maximizing the efficiency in transportation and logistics system. In particular, our lab is trying to apply the state-of-art IT technology such as GIS and LBS to establish sustainable transportation system.
The Behavioral Analytics & Research for Transportation Systems (BARTS) Laboratory conducts research to enhance the understanding of human mobility and transportation systems by modeling individual travel behavior and analyzing urban mobility patterns. Ultimately, our goal is to develop models that can accurately represent activity and mobility choices of people, thereby improving the accuracy of travel demand forecasting and contributing to transportation and mobility planning and policymaking that address societal challenges. To this end, we employ a wide range of methodologies, including statistical modeling, econometric modeling, machine learning, spatial analysis, and transportation simulation.
Smart Construction & Mobility
CM and Construction Material lab of Korea University focuses on the technical advancements in construction management and construction materials under guidance of professor Cho, Hoonhee and Professor Yi, Chongku. The main research areas of the lab include construction automation, disaster response strategies, on-site construction management through information technology; development of eco-friendly construction materials, recycled aggregate concrete, and high performance construction materials, Since the establishment of the lab many students have finished their degree (M. Eng or Ph.D.) and became valuable members of highly recognized private companies, research institutes, and Universities. The CM and Construction material lab are currently carrying out various research projects funded by Korean government agencies.
